Stock control (receives and transfers)
Transferring stock off of the system back to a supplier, to shrink (eg. damaged or out of date) or to another store (in multi-site organisations) is done through the stock transfer facility.
Working through the same simple to use interface as the stock receive facility, the system prompts for details on the destination/shipment of the goods before details on the goods themselves are entered:
As with the stock receive facility, products can be entered by barcode/PLU code or by searching for the product by name. As the system allows multiple barcodes to be assigned to a product the user can easily use external packaging barcodes to process products more quickly.
On posting the transfer the inventory levels in the stock database are automatically updated and a 'transfer receipt' is printed for later reconciliation.
For stores in a multi-site organisation, the central head office system can poll details from stores on transferred stock and use this to spot credit mismatches, missing stock in store-to-store transfers, etc.
